CAT 3 - Floating Dock from Wahoo Docks
Fully Engineered – Wahoo is owned by engineers who place great value on the forces that affect a floating structure that is stressed 24/7. Each and every dock is individually designed by an engineer who is supported by our proprietary design software and the experience of designing more unique docks than any other dock company in North America.
Features:
1. Noise Eliminating Bushings – HDPE plastic bushings insulate metal to metal contact points on both the dock and the gangway to eliminate noises commonly associated with floating docks.
2. 10-Inch Mainframe – This mainframe uses less material than the 8” or 9” channels while maintaining stiffness and strength.
3. Structural Interconnections – The structural members of the CAT 3 dock interlock so that connections are supported by a framework ‘seat’ and then welded into place. This redundant support adds significant strength and longevity to the dock and reduces the stress on critical weld points.
4. Reinforced Pole Connections – Roof poles mount into gusseted pockets specially designed to capture the entire profile of the mainframe and roof channel, creating unparalleled strength and stiffness.
5. Rigid Roof Structure – Our roof structure is a latticework of heavy gauge material which adds stiffness and strength to the overall dock. We use 8” tall, 3/16” thick c-channel (usually 4) as the main supports and interconnect these with 2”c-channels. Moreover, our upper deck docks incorporate our patented OverDeck product to ensure durable, maintenance free protection and allow any type of decking to be used for the upper level.
6. Reinforced Corners – Our corner bracket acts to strengthen the most critical locations on the dock and to secure roof poles. They eliminate the otherwise butt-welded corner found on most competitive docks or cast corner brackets, which are significantly more brittle than extrusions and provide weaker welds.
7.*Optional* Maintenance Free Decking – We manufacture AridDek aluminum decking specifically to compliment the features of our docks – it’s durable, maintenance free and perfect for harsh marine environments. In addition, we offer IPE natural hardwood decking and cellular PVC synthetic decking options.
8. Engineered Railing System – Our railing system is comprised of 13 custom components in three color options to create a uniquely durable structure and finished appearance.
9. Patented OverDeck Protection – Our patented OverDeck roofing underlay provides many benefits – it is stiff and strong to strengthen the roof structure, it provides a flat, clean look from underneath and it supports the use of any type of decking on the upper level.
10. *Optional* Premium Boat Protection – Our proprietary pole bumpers wrap around the roof poles to provide unsurpassed strength and protection, while our soft bumpers cover the top of the dock frame to ensure maximum boat protection. In addition, our optional, proprietary 12” high mainframe bumper is available to provide security for even the most novice boat owners.
11. Gusset Reinforcements – The gusset reinforcements on the CAT 3 are unparalleled due to the number of reinforcements and their interlocking arrangement with the surrounding components.
12. *Optional* Heavy Duty Hinge – Our proprietary piano hinge is more durable, safer and quieter than the hinge on any competitive dock. The hinge pin is co-extruded with an HDPE plastic sheath to insulate the metal-to-metal contact and keep the hinge secure and quiet for the lifetime of the dock.
13. 4” Octagonal Roof Supports – Roofs are supported by 4” octagonal poles which are 35% heavier than the traditional 3” square poles used by competitors. The primary benefit of this, in addition to the design enhancement, is that each pole is 126% stiffer, creating a much stronger dock.
14. Through-Bolted Roof Supports – We secure each roof support with a 3/8” diameter stainless steel bolt and nylon locknut combination to ensure a tight, durable connection that will never loosen over time.
15. Premium Components – The CAT 3 incorporates the same premium component parts that have always been a hallmark of a Wahoo dock. From entirely stainless steel hardware to the use of PermaFloat floatation, the most durable floats available, the CAT 3 includes components that last.
16. Heavy Gauge Roofing – We use 26-gauge roofing on all of our roof designs to ensure stiffness and security in regions that experience significant snow and ice conditions.
17. Finished Design – The CAT 3, just like the CAT 5, is all about attention to detail. From the custom pole feet that cover decking cuts, to the proprietary bumpers and unique extrusions, both CAT 3 and CAT 5 docks provide the most complete and finished looking docks available.
18. Flexible Appearance – The appearance of the CAT 3 can be tailored to suit individual tastes. With three color options for the roof poles (mill finish, antique bronze, hunter green) and railing (mocha, white, antique bronze), multiple decking options and 19 available roof colors, new dock owners can design a dock that is uniquely their own.
19. Obstruction-Free Design – The rigidity of the CAT 3 components and connection points and the stiffness of our 4” roof poles allow us to eliminate diagonal brace obstructions in most standard dock styles and still provide the stiffest aluminum dock available.
World Class Welding – 100% of the welding on a Wahoo dock is performed in a controlled environment by skilled professionals using the latest MIG welding equipment.
Material Science – Wahoo uses only 6061-T6 marine grade aluminum for all structural components, which provides 20% stronger welds than the more popular and less expensive grades used on most competitive docks.
Custom Components – Wahoo has invested heavily in custom components such as aluminum extrusions, bumpers, castings, fasteners, decking and trim to make our docks as physically and economically strong as possible and to create a dock that has a finished appearance unlike any other.
